This year’s Fantasyfestival is over, and I’m amazed at how this event keeps growing and being amazing every year!
The visitor count was 15,000 people, which for Denmark is incredible. The was of course as always the main festival area within the library and the outdoor area right outside with the medieval market. But this year, they extended the festival to also include even more parts of the city, and there was a big Fantasy Quest event in the town square, which was something like an outdoor escape room/quest with all kinds of tasks to be solved. This part was not free, but what I heard from people is that it was worth the money. Sadly, I was too busy at our booth to explore much beyond the library area, but there were also even more booths at the town square and some events happening at locations around town with workshops etc. It’s really become a city festival, and it’s great to see it grow so much.
As always, I was part of the Warcrafters’ booth in the library where we spread the good word of cosplay, and we had many good talks – I’m pretty sure we inspired at least a few people to try to make their own costumes, so I am hoping we’ll see even more great costumes next year!
The variation of the booths and what they sold was really good, and I felt like there was a lot to see and something for everyone.
There were owls that you could hold and take photos with for a small fee, and since I was cosplaying a Hogwarts professor, I HAD to do that. I got to hold Preben, a beautiful verreaux’s eagle-owl with beautiful pinkish eyelids. He was a very polite and calm owl.
As is often the case at conventions, I forgot to take photos, but the few I do have, I’ve shared below. Thanks to Casper Silber for a rare photo of Zibartas and I together and of Namalyn Cosplay’s Palanquin D.va
